Aiko is a passionate and dedicated health professional with over 8 years of experience in massage therapy. Having worked in Japan, Canada and Australia, she has proven herself as an accomplished massage practitioner who loves helping people improve their health and lifestyle.
Her interest in massage therapy started from an early age. Even as a kid Aiko used to massage her father’s back to help him with his piriformis syndrome (lower back and knee pain). However, one time she had to seek some remedial massage treatment herself after she had strained her rotator cuff (shoulder) muscles from playing traditional Japanese drums called Taiko. Thanks to this treatment she managed to continue playing drums and decided that it was something that she wanted to do herself to help other people.
After completing university in Japan she embarked on a journey to become a professional massage therapist. In 2009 she went to Canada to studying business in hospitality and took a course in Shiatsu massage technique. She practiced and honed her massage skills at a number of clinics and spas in Canada and continuously worked on improving her skills and gaining new experience.
In 2013 Aiko moved to Australia to continue her professional education and began studying a Certificate IV in massage therapy. She didn’t stop there and later became a qualified remedial massage therapist by finishing a Diploma or Remedial Therapy at Max Therapy Institute. Having practiced as a remedial massage therapist, Aiko continues to build on her skills and is currently undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy to increase her knowledge of sports injury and dry needling techniques, and to fine tune her skills. She understands the importance of muscle movement, strengthening exercises and ki (the balance of energy flow in the body) and is a big believer in promoting healthy living.
